What is shadow theater?

Shadow theater uses light, a screen, and the shapes made by performers and props to tell a story. We bring together movement, music, acting, and handmade props to create scenes as a group.

Who can take part?

We welcome children and teenagers with different interests, backgrounds, and body types. Some students enjoy performing; others may prefer helping with movement, music, or props. There is room for people with different strengths to contribute.

What happens in a workshop?

Students experiment with group shapes, movement, and props, then put them together in a short scene. They also get to see how light changes the shadows on the screen.

Where are you located?

Athens Shadow Theater is based in Athens, Georgia.

Can you bring a workshop to our school or group?
